Instagram’s Threads app has taken the internet by storm. As more and more people have started posting, you can already notice the trend of videos on this platform.

And it’s quite obvious!  No matter what your purpose is, videos are the silver bullet to connect with the audience on a personal level. On top of that, videos create a sense of trust within the audience and help you build a loyal community faster.

Plus, Meta has announced — they are working to add the benefits of open social networking protocols to Threads. Meaning, “If you have a public profile on Threads, this means your posts would be accessible from other apps, allowing you to reach new people with no added effort. ”

So, it’s needless to say that Threads is getting promising day by day, and you should leverage its potential by posting quality content with videos.

Keeping these in mind, in this post, we’ll discuss all things related to videos on Threads, like how to post a video on this platform, what video format and length it supports, and how posting videos on Threads differs from posting videos on Twitter.

How to Post a Video on Threads?

Posting videos on threads is as easy as pie. You just have to follow a few basic steps mentioned below:

Step 1: Create the video and save it to your gallery

Unlike Twitter, Threads doesn't offer any camera features embedded in it.  For this reason,  you can't record instant videos within the platform. So, ensure you have already created the video and saved it to your phone gallery.

Thankfully, BIGVU can do the heavy lifting in this case. With BIGVU's slick interface and fast functionalities, creating a professional, high-quality video is an absolute breeze. Whether creating a creative script with AI Magic Writer, shooting professional videos with its online teleprompter, or editing like a seasoned video editor with the automatic captioning feature, it has your back on all fronts. However, if you want to learn more about BIGVU and how it can help you with video marketing, consider checking this post

Next, visit your phone setting and check if the Threads App has access to all photos and videos of your gallery. Either way, you'll likely face errors in the next steps and waste a good chunk of your time.

Step 2: Open the Threads app and start creating a new thread

On your feed of the Threads app, you'll get a "pen & paper” icon next to the search button. Click on it.

Step 3: Click on the "Paper pin" icon and select the video

Next, tap on the "paper-pin" icon. It'll redirect you to the gallery.

Then select the video you want to post and hit the “Add/Done” button.

    Step 4: Post the video

Once you've successfully attached the video, add captions and mentions. Or, you can leave it as it is. But we’d recommend you to do the former one if you want better reach and visibility. Then hit “Post.”

     It’s as simple as that!

But the only problem you may face while posting videos on Threads is the lack of its in-built features for video customization. And if you are targeting a global audience, you need to customize your videos and make them accessible to everyone by adding captions and subtitles. As the study stated, almost 80% of viewers tend to finish a video with subtitles!

Don’t worry! You don’t need to be tech-savvy or spend thousands of dollars to hire a video editor for this. BIGVU has your back. Let’s see how it can help you out of this problem:

    Captions for Threads Videos

With BIGVU’s auto-captioning features, you can add captions to your Thread videos with a few taps. Just record a video and leave everything on BIGVU. Its AI voice-to-script technology will create almost perfect captions in sync with the videos. Not only that, you can further style these captions with your brand color and theme.

    Subtitles for Threads Videos

BIGVU also helps you with adding subtitles to your videos. Its auto-transcription feature will sync the subtitles with your narration. And you can see these subtitles in a storyboard and make changes if required.

    Translate Subtitles for Threads videos

As of now, BIGVU supports over 70 different languages for subtitling. You can record a video in your native language and add subtitles in your preferred language for better reach.

Now, you’re all set to crush Threads with videos.

How to post a video on Twitter?

Posting videos on Twitter is almost similar to Threads’. But there are some additional video-posting-related features on Twitter that enhance user experience. We’ll talk about them within the steps. So, here’s how the process goes:

Step 1: Open Twitter and click on the “十” icon (on mobiles) or “Tweet” button ( on the Web)

First things first, open Twitter on your mobile or desktop. If you are posting videos from mobiles, you’ll find a “+” icon on the right-hand side at the bottom of the screen. Click on it.

But, if you are on your desktop and uploading videos on twitter.com, hit the “Tweet” button from the left-hand sidebar menu.

Step 2: Click on the “Photos” option

After that, you’ll get a media icon named Photos. Tap on it. You can also hit the “Tweet” option for that media icon.

Now, if you are on a desktop, there also you’ll get the same media icon to upload videos.

But the advantage of accessing Twitter from Mobile is you can record instant videos directly from the platform with its camera feature.

Pro Tip 💡 : Ensure that the video you are going to post is in the supported formats. (We’ll discuss it further in this post.)

However, Twitter also gives an “Edit” option to the users so they can remove extra parts of the video before uploading.

Once you have selected the video, hit “Done” on mobile and “Open” on desktop.

    Step 3: Post the video

If you want, you can add captions, location, and tag people for better engagement. Once done, hit “Tweet.”

That’s it. You’ve successfully posted a video on Twitter.

How Long Can a Video Be on Threads?

According to the official announcement of Meta, you can upload videos up to 5 minutes in length on Threads. In fact, when we tried to upload videos longer than 5 minutes, it simply failed. So, don’t get manipulated by videos or articles claiming you can upload longer videos (more than 5 minutes).

How Long Can a Twitter Video Be?

If you’ve subscribed to Twitter Blue, you’ll get to post videos up to 2 hrs long on both twitter.com and Twitter for iOS without any compromise with quality. And Android users can upload videos up to 10 minutes long with Twitter Blue.

But if you’re not a Twitter Blue user, you can upload videos only up to 140 seconds ( 2 min 20 seconds)  long on every platform.

    Video Format For Threads?

As of now, Threads only supports MP4 video format.

    Video Format For Twitter?

Twitter supports different types of video formats depending on the device you’re going to upload a video from. For example, if you are uploading videos from your mobile, it supports MP4 and MOV video formats.

On the other hand, if you’re uploading videos from a desktop, Twitter allows you to upload videos in MP4 format with H.264 video codec and AAC audio codec.

How to Publish Threads with Multiple Videos on Twitter?

Now that you already know to post a video on Twitter, it’s better to note that you can upload multiple videos in a thread format on this platform. And the process is quite easy.

After adding a video, you’ll get a tiny “+” icon at the bottom right corner.

As soon as you tap on it, you’ll again get the “media” icon that’ll redirect you to the gallery. You can either select a video or record one instantly.

Next, you have to follow the same steps we’ve mentioned in the “How to Post a Video on Twitter” section (Edit ➡ Done).

Once you’ve added the videos, hit the “Tweet All” button.

Skyrocket Your Reach on Threads with Videos

Sure, Twitter offers more effective features for uploading a video. But let’s not forget that Threads is still in its initial stage. Despite that, it has made a solid first impression among millions of users. In fact, Mark Zuckerberg has promised to launch some excellent features of Threads in the upcoming time.

Now, as a creator, you mainly have two options — 1. Find yourself lost amidst an ocean of text-based content, and 2. Leverage the power of Threads with top-notch video content. If you choose the second option (you must!), you’ll create an unforgettable brand identity and a loyal community within a short period.

And in this journey, if you need a platform/app that’ll help you create awesome videos without any hassles, try BIGVU today.
