Upload before you switch machines

A take labeled Local hasn't reached your BIGVU account yet. Upload it before you move to another computer, or you won't be able to open it anywhere else.

Check the size before you upload

The take screen shows the file size next to the length, for example 1.25MB. A large take over mobile data takes much longer, so glance at the size and switch to Wi-Fi if it's big.

Cloud and Local are the two states

Every take carries one of two labels. Cloud means it's on your BIGVU account and reachable from the mobile app; Local means it exists only where it was recorded.

Local means it's only on this phone

Until you upload, the take exists nowhere but this device. If you lose or reset the phone, an un-uploaded take goes with it.

Download MP4 after uploading, not before

Download File in MP4 on a Local take pulls the file straight from your browser, which is slow and needs a stable connection. Upload first, then download the cloud copy.

No notifications means no upload alert

BIGVU tells you the upload finished with a push notification reading Your video is ready for sharing. If you declined notification permission you'll have to check the project manually.

Processing and Transcoding are two stages

After you click Upload the take shows Processing while the file transfers, then Transcoding while BIGVU converts it into a cloud-ready format. Both have to finish before the take is usable.

You can leave the screen mid-upload

The upload keeps running once you've tapped Upload to cloud, so you don't have to watch the percentage. Come back when the notification arrives.

Keep working while it uploads

BIGVU tells you it will notify you when the upload is done, so there's no need to sit on the takes screen. Start your next take or edit your script in the meantime.

Upload to cloud sits in the take menu

The three-dots menu on the take screen holds Upload to cloud alongside Translate Subtitles and Send Us Feedback. It's separate from the editing tools like Trim Video and Add Automatic Subtitles.

Yes. Once the label reads Cloud, the take shows up in the same project in the BIGVU mobile app with nothing else to do.

Yes. After the upload finishes the take appears in the same project on the web, ready to caption, style, or add to a sequence.

Why is my upload stuck?

Uploads need a stable connection to finish, and a large take on a slow network can sit at a low percentage for a while. Stay on solid Wi-Fi and give it a few minutes before retrying.

Why did my upload fail?

Uploads need a stable, fast Wi-Fi connection, free storage space on the phone, and the phone's date and time set to automatic. Check all three before retrying.

Can I upload an older take?

Yes, as long as it still shows the Local label in the project. Open its three-dots menu and choose Upload exactly as you would for a fresh recording.

Do I have to upload every take?

No. Only the takes you want on other devices need uploading. The rest can stay Local on the phone until you're ready.
